Second Dr. Appointment!
February 16, 2021
Because I'm considered high-risk due to my previous recurrent miscarriages, my doctor had recommended I do a 1 hour glucose test in my first trimester to test if I had diabetes. I read that the orange drink tasted like Orange Fanta and decided to go with that which actually wasn't that bad, just pretty sweet, even for me. I was instructed not to drink or eat anything within the hour though. After the hour, they drew 4.5 vials of blood and I was on my way. Now I have to wait for the results!!

Today was my second OB appointment and the doctor announced that it was my official dating scan day. That basically means whatever my baby measures is the date they're going to go with for the rest of my pregnancy. Obviously it's not going to be exact, but I was still excited because seeing my baby on the screen is always my favorite part of these appointments. Turns out I ended up being 4 days ahead from my first appointment which makes me 11 weeks + 1 day today. Once again, my baby proved to be active and was giving the doctor a tough time trying to measure him/her. It was reassuring hearing the heartbeat at 158 bpm and the doctor constantly complimented how healthy, active, and beautiful baby is! I told Nes the good news when I got out of there, and all he said was "Wow. Our baby got bigger!" I think now it's starting to sink in that we're officially going to be parents to a baby boy or girl in 7 months!
The only discouraging thing I had to hear today was that despite my glucose test came out within range, my doctor has ordered me to do the 3-hour test just to be extra extra sure I'm not diabetic. I know I'll have to take that test within the next week before my third appointment though. I just have to mentally prepare myself to not be able to eat 10 hours prior to the test, do 4 blood draws, and not eat or drink anything for the whole 3 hours I'm there. Man, that already sounds tiring!
