Fetal Diagnostic: 1st Trimester Screening
March 8, 2021
I was really excited for today's appointment since it was the very first time your daddy got to see you! Despite all the pains you've been giving me in the last few days, I knew today would be worth it once the doctors confirmed you were healthy. The first thing the sonographer asked was if they could determine your gender today, if we would like to know and of course we said yes. Once you came on the screen, daddy could not keep still. He even told me how anxious and nervous he was seeing you for the first time. First the nurse measured behind your neck and said everything looked good, then she moved on to show us your arms, hands, legs, and feet. She said you were about 2.5 inches long too! While inspecting your bottom, she said "By the looks of it, I say there's an 80% chance that your baby is a girl." I immediately looked at your dad and smiled. In the last few weeks, I repeatedly said that I felt like you were a boy but your dad insisted that you were a girl. Hearing that there was a huge possibility you'd be a mini-me was reassurance enough.
The main doctor came in and confirmed that he too thinks you're a girl. Measuring at 12 weeks + 5 days, he also checked all your organs and additionally pointed out your spine, kidney, heart, and stomach. All in all, I'd say today was pretty successful and I can't wait to see you again at my next appointment on Thursday! Since there's a high chance of you being a girl, daddy and I already have the PERFECT name picked out for you. Now that I'm nearing closer to the 2nd trimester, it's starting to hit me about how real everything is. I can only hope and pray that you'll be healthy all the way through. Only 3 other people besides your parents know of your existence, but when we tell everyone else, you will be so loved, my little one. (:
